pH Meter with buffer solutions, battery, and storage box.

This is a quality made pH meter that ticks all the boxes and doesn't break the bank.

Water Resistant Design
We know what you brewers are like. You are going to drop this into a pool of sanitiser the moment you purchase it. As a result this pH meter is water resistant and splash-proof.

The post pH Meter – Pen Style appeared first on Brew Northland.

Digital Triple Point Calibration
Cheaper pH meters only have single or double point calibration. For brewing we often operate over a large range right down to 2.5 for testing sanitiser solution and high up for alkaline cleaners. We also need the pH meter to be accurate in the mid range for brewing. As a result we have got triple point calibration. The calibration is completely digital and can be done in 60 seconds. No calibration screws that you need to turn or anything like that. Just put the pH meter into the buffer solution that comes included and then hit the calibration button. It’s as simple as that.

Replaceable Electrode
Home brewing puts a lot of stress on the electrodes. Especially if you are testing hot wort directly from your mash tun. If you know anything about pH meters you will know that the electrodes are not difficult to damage in a brewing environment and they have a tendency to fail over time. Why spend all this money on a good quality pH meter if you can’t replace the electrode. This pH meter has a replaceable electrode so you can just remove it and put on a new one if you damage it.

Includes Buffer Solution
This includes 3 packs of buffer solution. Just add water and store in a glass jam jar and the buffer solution will last almost forever.

Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC)
Any good quality pH meter you get will include ATC. This additional feature means the probe needs to have a small temp probe at the end so it can compensate for high or low temperatures. Lets face it, you are not going to wait for your wort sample to cool down to 20C are you. That’s why this is absolutely necessary.

Water Proof Cap
The main reason why pH meters start to fail over time is they are incorrectly stored. If your pH meter is left with a dry probe the KCL solution evaporates through the glass membrane. This will cause incorrect pH readings. The cap on this pH meter has an o-ring and creates a water tight seal. It’s amazing how many pH meters don’t have this basic function meaning your probe gets destroyed very quickly and you are back to purchasing another unit or probe. To keep your electrode in best possible condition we recommend you clean with water then store in KCL storage solution inside the cap then push the cap on tight so it seals it up. This will keep your readings accurate for long time.

It is highly recommended that 3mol/Litre KCL Storage Solution is purchased with this pH meter. To ensure the pH meter measures accurately the electrode must be stored in KCL storage solution and the electrode must be rehydrated prior to first time use, after the electrode has been in storage for a long period of time or has dried out.

If you need to purchase extra buffer solutions for calibration they can be found here.

The rehydration method is provided in the instruction manual. A probe that has dried out is the most common cause for calibration issues. If you have issues calibrating your Digital pH Meter, please rehydrate the probe with KCl Solution for 24 hours then try again.

This handy PCO38 Tapping Head assembly is a great way to get into kegging. Using standard home brew ball lock disconnects this is convenient, light weight, robust and useful for wine, cocktails, beer, and other beverages.

This PCO38 tapping head assembly has been designed to suit standard PCO38 bottle necks.

The PCO38 keg system is a inexpensive keg system that utilises quality engineering plastics and efficient injection stretch blow mould processes to manufacture economical kegs and tapping heads for both home brewing and commercial beers.

This particular tapping head kit comes included with 2.5bar pressure relief valve, liquid and gas ball lock posts and dip tube.

The plastics used in the tapping head can withstand a wide range of chemicals used in the brewing industry and relatively high temperatures (over 100C).

NOTE: The keg shown in the photos is not included.

4

4L PET Oxebar Keg with Cap and Handle (PCO38 )

Keep your oxygen-sensitive beverages fresher for longer with the Oxebar Monolayer. We recommend this product for storing beer up to 3-6 months.

The new lightweight and reusable plastic kegs are brought to you by Oxebar and KegLand. Store your homebrew in a more convenient size, take it away camping or to a bbq. The new shorter profile 4L under 330mm will fit in most chilly bins or esky coolers. You can also dispense with it lying on its side.

Do not Exceed 4 Bar / 58psi or 45°C

This great value re-usable plastic keg is the best way to store your home brew in a smaller sized container than traditional 19L corny kegs. The small 4L size is convenient, light weight and perfect for sharing beverages with friends.

This 4L keg is light weight, compact and has extreme oxygen barrier properties. This extremely low gas transmission means your beverage will stay much fresher for longer. Even if you do consume the beverage in a short time, that short time will have much less oxygen transmission compared to other PET kegs on the market. Suitable for carbonated and non-carbonated beverages.

This product is sold with the PCO38 cap however if you would like to dispense this product through a draft system we recommend the use of the PCO38 Tapping Head. The tapping head is sold separately and allows you to attach standard ball lock disconnects and add a pressure relief valve to the top of this keg design.

What is Oxebar Mono
Oxebar Mono is a PET polymer blend that utilises several polymers blended together to significantly improve gas barrier properties. When compared with standard PET plastic Oxebar Mono is able to reduce oxygen ingress and CO2 loss so your precious beverage is preserved and shelf life extended by x3. We recommend this product for beer stored in keg up to 6 months.

Dimensions
Diameter:155mm
Height: 325mm

Periodic Hydrotesting Requirement
All pressure vessels should be hydrotested periodically. This is a very simple process and it’s nothing to be feared. We recommend that this container be pressure tested every 2 years up to 6 bar. The instructions for this are:
1. Remove RED prv and fit GREY prv (you can borrow one of these from a 19L keg.
2. Fill keg to the absolute brim with water. DO NOT forget this step.
3. Use bike pump, CO2 regulator, air compressor or any other pressure source to pressurize the keg to 6 bar.
4. Hold the keg at 6 bar for 1 minute
5. Release the pressure and immediately remove GREY prv and swap back to RED prv.
Note: This test should be done with the keg and water in the keg at room temperature 15-30C
